ALBANIA TRIP

Albania is very different from the countries around it. It shows a greater influence of the Ottoman Empire that once ruled it. In many ways, it seems more like Turkey or India than Europe. We all enjoyed the fact that people use the opposite head gestures for "yes" and"no" than most of the world. It made it difficult to ask for directions when we were lost!

Albania has very few roads. The ones they have usually go through the mountains, meaning that it takes a long time to drive anywhere.

Albania has some interesting World Heritage Sites. Our favorite site was in the southern area of Butrint.This group of old ruins was hidden in a forest and in a pretty lakeside setting.
